I am just curious to find out how many of the people in these forums are smokers, just curious because I am and wanted to know if following this way of eating has affected your smoking habits...

Well big confession!!! Not a lot of people know I smoke, and none of my grandkids realise it either. I go to great lengths to prevent them finding out...(If they every find out I am moonstruck on this forum I will edit this out)..HaHa!!

I only smoke after 6pm of a night, and I never smoke when I go out unless it is to close friends who smoke...

Low carbing doesn't seem to have changed this habit, but I know should give it up even though I only smoke a packet a week:(

I was quite a heavy smoker before I started on this WOE (usually between 1/2 - 1 packet a day) but found that once my body adjusted to the new eating habits, the cigarettes started tasting foul. They literally made me feel sick. Now, I'm lucky if I have one or two cigarettes a week and that's only when I'm around other smokers. I simply don't feel like them anymore and I didn't make a conscious effort to quit!!
Interested to know if any other low-carbers have found the same thing??

I noticed alcohol doesnt taste the same. Not that I'm a big drinker but I do enjoy a glass of wine or two on the week end. We will see what happens this weekend! :p :D
Best of luck with the weight loss!!!

I used to smoke and gave up last year on the 17th Feb. I unfortunatly put on 15 kilos and have now taken 7 of those off. I never ate like this before I gave up so I dont have any idea. But her are my stats as I am very proud of them

I have chosen not to smoke for 1 Year 8 Months 4 Days 8 Hours 31 Minutes 41 Seconds. Cigarettes not smoked: 18340. Money saved: $5,685.60.

I found this little program on the net that keeps a running tally and i think it was one of the major things that kept me going.

hmm, *put hand up, and hides face*

I am a smoker. Smoke around 5-8 cigs a day during the week, and up to 2 packs a day on weekends (depending on the amount of alcohol consumed).

tracye: would love to know where you got that program that keeps a running total of cigs not smoked, and money saved .... perhaps that would be inspiration enough for me too :)

I'll let you guys know how my smoking goes the further into the stages i get.
