Hi,
I came across a website in Australia that is selling low carb products etc.... and one of the products happens to be bread. Its locarb.com.au/online. Might help those people desperate for bread (1 slice is 4. something per slice)
Regards

They are a bit of a rip off. For 10 bucks plus postage you can buy 10 cooked almond biscuits!
Or $15.00 for a chocolate and walnut loaf.
Delivery is $15.00 too
Seems awfully expensive for a little convenience.
Their prices on empower stuff is cheap compared to most HF shops but apart from the cereal the empower stuff is already too expensive and the cereal tastes like crap.
Maybe we should pester Rossana for more LC stuff :)

Actually I am wrong, they are even more expensive then I thought as those prices don't include GST.

I checked out that site- they are the people who will deliever lc meals straight to your door. I thought about going on it until I realised that they were using all Empower stuff, which is gross and ridiculously expensive anyway. I gues its just a way to get people who don't buy the full meal plan (meals + snacks) to buy even more stuff.
On the cereal- I really hate that Fibre X stuff, bt cooking bacon and eggs in the morning can be a real pain. For those who have had BOTH the PoH and Empower stuff, if you hated the Fibre X how did the PoH cereal taste?

POH cereal doesn't have that bitter taste that the FibreX has. Also if nuts stall you then POH is better for that too.
PS: Oh and POH don't have stones in it :D

FM, that is a hard one, I prefer the Poh for muffins and to eat a cereol, but if I put the fibreX stuff into the easy peasy pancake mix it does not bother me. On the other hand L2bs loves the fibre X and can't stomach the Poh.
I guess all you can do is try Poh and if you don't like it maybe omeletes or a protein shake for breakie. I know it gets really hard at times as you get sick of certain foods and don't know what to replace them with. If I had eggs everyday I would be gagging at the thought of the next one.;)

Eggs Eggs Eggs!!! The site of the little buggers is making me sick these days!!! I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but protein shakes in the morning causes bowel problems for me... Unfair on anyone else in the room!
Might give the PoH stuff a go since it is the bitter taste of the Fibe X I don't like. It's a pity, because when I first shovel it in it tastes nice, then the aftertaste comes into play. If I don't like it, the PoH cereal will just have to sit in the cupboard along side all the other low carb products I've bought and hated, such as Almond Innocence cookies and the flavourless satay sauce. If only I had a dog to feed all these things to...

You can always use it to make cheesecake bases with it or pancakes.
Made a cheesecake base with it before when I ran out of muffin mix once and it was fine.
Made pancakes with muffin mix, I reckon cereal would'nt be any different.
Don't forget though you will need to sweeten it yourself for cereal.

Oh heres another one thats rediculous. They sell 1 x 40g serve of that Goliath powder in a plastic bottle for $4.00
You can buy 1kg of the powder for $45 I think from sizematters which works out to $1.80 per 40g serve.
Oh I tried the choc mint flavour of this stuff today, it was very good, will have to ask Rossana if they can put it on this site too.

Those shake and mix thingos infuriate me too! Max's make them as well and charge a fortune for a scoop of protein shake and a plastic bottle. I'd pay extra for a ready made drink, but I have plenty of protein powder and plastic bottles at home.
I really have to make the bread! So very slack of me, esp. since I have all the ingredients. DAMN! Just remembered that I forgot to bring the bread machine back from Adelaide:( . Sam, what size tin should I use for te bread? I've got a loaf style cake tin- will that be right? With all this lack of knowledge, who would never guess that until the beginning of this year I worked in a bakery!

Hi all
I thought I should pop in here and comment.
Not everyone reacts the same to everything. FM mentioned that she couldn't stomach shakes in the morning because it causes bowel problems.
Shakes generally only do that because of inferior quality ingredients or your sensitivity to an ingredient.
Many members of our communities (PoH & SM) go to their local health food store and pick up the cheaper powders. One company in particular sell their products dirt cheap. We have had a lab analysis done on one of their brands. Let's just say that:
* the carbs were understated significantly
* WPC after analysis did not stand for whey protein concentrate
Another factor that could potentially upset tummies is the level of lactose in the powders... most good ones have nil or low levels.
Same with our cereal and muffin mix.
From batch to batch there may be slight differences... plants are like humans... different each one.
As for initial reactions, I find that often the fibre element creates bloating. This normally subsides as your intestine get's used to it. But as we have always maintained... you shouldn't go stupid and eat heaps like one bodybuilder I know!
We've kept our mixes basic so that you can create variety. To survive at low carbing I think you need alot of creativity... but then again healthy eating does require effort on your part - it's just our busy lives that make it a struggle some times.
As for the locarb site...
It is run by NuShape.
Most original product range don't you think? :o
We supply some of the franchises with our muffin mix for their meal plans but not sure what they are doing in the metro area.
They are running a low carb transformation challenge... has anyone entered it?

Rossana:) :) :) so good to see you popping in..
You know I have a theory about the cereal and muffin mix absorbing lot more at the moment...I think it probably depends on the time of year..maybe the age ,or whether being dry or green has something to do with it.
Someone who uses another cereal also commented to me that the new lot she had seemed a lot thicker..
I remember back when I drank milk, I found it had a different taste at different times of the year, and I reckoned it depended on whether the cows were having dry or green feed...Well that's my thoughts anyway!!!
P.S don't be such a stranger Rossana;)

I agree :)
I was thinking that Goliath powder would be good for people who don't tolerate lactose well?

I wish I'd bought a cheap protein powder to test them out before spending a fortune! I think my problem is a sensitive stomach- I also never used to be able to eat fruit first thing in the morning. I was so stressed about my sister's bday party, I couldn't even tolerate the teaspoon of cream I have in my morning cocoa. Ahhhh, the wonders of IBS! One exam period it got so bad, all I was allowed to have was water and dry toast- bleugh! If I was feeling drowsy, I was allowed a little water down juice to sip on.
Rosanna- re fibre. I add psyllium to the shakes on the rare occassions that I have them. Could this be adding to the problem?
Moonie- tha milk comment is spot on! Milk here in Canberra is a lot creamier than in South Australia- apparently the juiciness of the grass makes a difference.
Just ordered the cereal and muffin mix- figured I'd never know if I liked it until I tried. Its gotta be better than that Empower stuff- but that wouldn't be hard!

As mentioned in another post, I had problems with my bowel the day I started my protein drinks and flax oil. I stopped the protein drink for a couple of days and the problem stopped. I started the protein drink again and I didn't have any more problems. I think my body is more sensitive since starting lo carb.
Can you tell me which protein drink you tested, Rossana?

Funky if you've only just ordered it, give Rossana a buzz and ask her if she has any Goliath samples left (ask for choc mint) and she can send you one with your order so you can try it. I'm sure she won't mind if she has some left.
