I was watching on Foxtell last night and flicking and ended up on the TVSN shopping channel. Anyhow they were advertising the abovenamed diet.

Has anyone heard anything about this, or know anything about it...it kinda sounded like it was based on your body type, blueprinting etc.

Looking at it now, it said I was a meso endo.

Have you seen the MT threads here? I know we talked about metabolic typing somewhere here before. I have two books here too one is eat,move and be healthy and another is called metabolic typing I think, I bought the last one from amazon ages ago but yet to have a good read of it.

I just did their quick blueprint and it said I was an Endomorph :( Body Type A.

I tried to do search on Michael Thurman but the search field didn't come up with anything.

Are there threads on his diet/theory already?

Oxidizer Type

Your oxidizer type is the speed at which your body burns carbohydrates.

Fast oxidizers

Fast oxidizers burn carbohydrates too quickly to obtain efficient fuel from them. They usually have insulin resistance, and the result is hunger soon after eating carbohydrates and a strong craving for bread. There will usually be some weight gain from a diet too high in carbohydrates. Richer, fatty foods are metabolized well, and are actually the best source of energy. Paradoxically, fatty foods are essential for weight loss in fast oxidizers!

Best diet: LOW CARBOHYDRATE DIET


Less than 40 grams of carbohydrates per day. The best way do this is to avoid grains, especially wheat-flour, completely.
Eat LOTS of low glycemic carbohydrates such as green, leafy vegetables. (They provide essential fibre and nutrients.)
Eat healthy fats with every MEAL: non-TRANS fats (non-processed) fats such as butter, extra virgin olive oil, grapeseed oil, cold-pressed flaxseed oil. Also raw nuts and seeds, free-range eggs, meat, dark poultry.
Eat protein with every MEAL: Meat, poultry, fish, goat cheese, eggs. Tofu and legumes are not enough.
Eat high purine foods every day: red meat, tuna, avocado. (Purines help the body to burn fat for energy.)

Slow oxidizers

Slow oxidizers burn carbohydrates more slowly. There may still be a desire for carbohydrates, but hunger is satisfied by them. Rich, fatty foods are not metabolized well, and may result in some weight gain.

Best diet: LOWER FAT DIET (not low-fat)



OK to have 40-80 grams of non-refined carbohydrates per day: rice, oats, potatoes, pumpkin, legumes.
Eat LOTS of low glycemic carbohydrates such as green, leafy vegetables. (They provide essential fibre and nutrients.)
Eat healthy fats every day for essential fatty acids: flaxseed oil, free range eggs, raw nuts and seeds, fish.
Eat lighter protein every day: Meat, poultry, fish, goat cheese, eggs, tofu, or legumes.

Oxidizer type is a spectrum. (See Self-Assessment Quiz). The people that really need to pay attention to this are those who are clearly very fast oxidizers. They are not at all suited to the modern diet of grains. Slower oxidizers can eat whole grains in moderation, and do well on conventional dietary advice.

Blood Type

This is a dietary approach popularized by Peter D'Adamo, ND. Blood type is a reflection of body chemistry type. It is well established that people of different blood types are more susceptible to certain diseases. Blood type diet proposes that people of different blood types are also sensitive to food lectins (proteins). An incompatiblity with food lectins results in inflammation, impaired metabolism and weight gain.

Blood Type O

People with Blood Type O are more likely to be fast oxidizers. They do well on lower carbohydrate diets, and have adequate stomach acid for digesting red meat and other rich proteins. They should avoid wheat in particular, because wheat lectins act as an insulin mimic and worsen high insulin and syndrome X.

Blood Type A

People with Blood Type A are more likely to be slow oxidizers. They are more able to tolerate carbohydrates in the diet, and may not have adequate stomach acid for digesting red meat and other rich proteins. They should avoid dairy in particular, because lectins in cow's milk promote inflammation and mucous formation.

Blood Type B

People with Blood Type B are more likely to be fast oxidizers. Both wheat and corn lectins will have a adverse effect on carbohydrate metabolism.

Blood Type AB

People with Blood Type AB are more likely to be slow oxidizers, but may be able to tolerate dairy.

I am blood type O

There is no doubt in my mind that I am a fast oxidiser.

Very fast oxidiser.

I will be on Very Low Carb the rest of my life.

Hi Dave - I'm blood type O as well, O+ to be exact.

I've heard that the blood types that should eat a low carb diet are:-

Apparently it works best on all of the above! :p
