Hi all,

I stumbled across this website on the weekend and I really wish I had of found it long before. I am 32 years old, have around 25kgs to lose, am 16**ms tall and need to change my life. And I'm ready to do it!

I have been struggling with my weight since my early teens and have tried just about every diet and book out there. I finally resolved that this was the year to take control of my life (and my health) and .....please don't judge me, but I got suckered into the Tony Ferguson program.

I have been on it for 2 1/2 weeks and have lost a pretty sad amount of weight of 2.2kgs (all whilst starving myself, feeling like utter crap, and trying to maintain a moderate amount of cardio at the gym). I only wish I had found your website before early Sat morning, when I purchased my next 2 weeks sachets, but what I would really love to do is persevere for 2 more weeks and then change over to a healthy low carb (REAL FOOD) eating program.

I read all the posts about your views on TF and it really made me question why I have been starving myself, suffering from headaches, low energy at the gym, and those terrible sugar/caffiene cravings I am suffering from, when after a very brief glimpse of your terrific website and wonderful advice, i am wanting to try a new approach.

So, any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated as I would love to try the low carb approach to take control of my life. :)

Thanks,
Julesz

Welcome Julesz :)

You could always keep those sachets for emergencies!

2.2kg isn't much for 2 weeks considering the water loss most people experience in the first 2 weeks, I wonder if your sensitive to the shakes? Do you tolerate lactose okay?

How ever, that said and done 1kg per week is a perfectly good weight loss and you shouldn't want any faster then that.

Any questions etc ask away! :)

Thanks so much for the quick replies. Yes, I know that 2.2 was a bit disappointing, especially since I really tried so hard. (My best friend started that Power of Protein around that same time, and lost double the amount of weight. A quick question: I am trying to go to the gym earlish (between 7.30 and 8am) Should I be having a shake/eating something before I go??? I usually try and wait til after, but it is really affecting my energy level at gym. I do need to use up shakes, mainly for financial reasons, but I want to try and merge the 2 programs over the next 2 weeks, while i find out as much as I can about this new lifestyle choice and committment I am making.

Hi Jules, welcome :)

If you're feeling sluggish at the gym with an empty stomach, definitely eat something first.

Don't eat anything heavy straight before gym or you might feel sick

If you are going to be using up the shakes, probably the best time would be just before you go to the gym...

Hi Jules

I know what you mean with the TF shakes! I only lost 2.4kg in 2 weeks, then I went onto low carbing and haven't looked back. i sold the rest of my shakes, soups & literature on Ebay, they're really popular. I bought my next 2 weeks worth of shakes & soups in the morning, then by late that afternoon I was into full on low carb yummy food, and I wasn't hungry anymore, yay!!:D

Good luck, hope to see you around.

Cheers, Jodi

Hey Julesz, what are your goals at the gym? Your goals should dictate what and how much you eat before you workout.

Hi,

In regards to my goals, I guess you could say I want to reduce body fat, increase fitness and strength and build muscle. (and lose weight) Have only been back at gym for the last month, after having nearly 2 years off.

In that case i'd suggest doing 2 workouts a day. The first in the morning prior to eating anything - 20 minutes of High Intensity Interval Training (eg: sprint 40 seconds/jog 20 seconds on a cross trainer - spin bike) each morning will rev up your metabolism for the entire day and keep the fat burning.
Then, in the afternoon/evening a weights/resistance program would allow you to give your musclesw a break and you have plenty of fuel in your system to push your muscles and a protein hit post work out to aid in muscle growth and recovery.

I know 2 workouts can seem a lot - but when it's only 20 minutes in the morning, it's not that much. It's also effective for fat burning and muscle gain to do your weights workout then do your cardio immediately after. Just remember you will never be able to go as hard during the cardio because you will have pre-exhausted your muscles. Don't forget to have a good ol' dose of protein after your workout!!!!!
