Hello!
My name is Peta; I have been browsing and thought I would join... have just recently decided to start low carbing as in the past it has been the only way I have been able to lose weight. I had my first baby just over 8-months ago and so far nothing else has worked to shift the weight. Feel like a big blob, so depressing... so time to stop kidding myself. I'm not doing any particular plan as such, just thought I would start with cutting out the major bad carbs (e.g. bread, rice, pasta, potatoes etc)... but if anyone knows of a good "plan" I would be interested to hear and willing to give it a go.
BTW so glad to finally find a community of supportive low carbers!!
Sherrie - you are going great guns - over what period of time have you lost that weight?? And are you following a plan or just low carbing/eating well??
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Peta :)
PS I might be blind, but can't see where to add in a siggy??

Welcome Peta :)

Both Atkins and Protein Power are low carb diets everyone here would recommend. Atkins is the one the majority of us are familiar with (including myself). However, if you decide to go the PP route both Annelies and Malcolm are very familiar with it plus there are some other PP'ers about at times too.

Peta, I don't really think a great deal of the weight loss in my ticker thats just the weight loss from after I had Maya which at the time came off pretty easily once my hormones had dropped down a bit, I suspect it was mostly fluid as I gained about 30kg during my pregnancy and no I wasn't trying to eat for two I ate the same as I did when I maintained my weight loss for 2 years!!!

I have more trouble now just trying to keep it from going up, I am still breastfeeding so I suspect that may have something to do with it plus I need to get my T3 levels checked to make sure my thyroid is ok.

Prior to the pregnancy I had lost weight on low carb and maintained it just fine, it probably took me about 6 months to get to 56kg and a few more months to get to 55kg, it was actually the moving into a more maintenance low carb diet that finally lost that last kg.

hi peta, Atkins is what i have been doing, i was low fating before LC and lost about 20kg and then no lost for such a long time. blah blah. So my friend was doing it and said what have you got to lose. Though oh well why not. bought the book for $1 at an op shop. and was on my merry way. Now once i get into something i really get into it. so thats what ive done ive been LC for 5 months and lost about 12kgs insaying that ,most of that say 10kg in the first 3months but remember idont have that much to lose anymore and when you get down to those last few its a bugger and really hard to get down, just hard work and persitance is the key, and also to realise THIS IS A WAY OF LIFE its not a diet ,. I think this is the biggest hurdle you have to come across

Oh yeah and welcom to this fab site
