Hi,
I'd like to introduce myself to the group. My name is Diana and I've been following the Atkins now for 4 weeks I find it a very easy plan and I love that I'd don't get hungry all the time like I did on another plan I was on (not mentioning names). I discovered A Pinch of Health when I started looking for recipes and have been making many of the ones I found on this website. It has a great help and sooo delicious. Thanks to those who posted them:p;).

Hi Sherrie,
Thanks for asking, it's all going well, the weight loss has slowed somewhat but I'm happy it's still happening. I have had very frustratingly slow weight loss in the past but on low carbs I have noticed it's slow but steady, yippee!

Thanks for the welcome everyone , and the encouragement. It's great to read the tips and ideas offered on this forum, and it's so nice not having to feel like I have to defend being on a low carb diet. It's so weird, the ideas people have in their heads about it. Most of my friends are horrified at the idea of not eating bread (I don't miss it) and think I live on bacon and eggs with the occassional chunk of cheese thrown in for variation. One lady I know got so sick of being questioned and challenged about it, she told me she fibs and tells people she's a diabetic. No questions, no judgement. Has anyone else experienced this negative view out there about low carb diets and where did it come from?

Hi Diana, welcome to the forum:) I have come across some negative feedback from people but mostly people dont say anything. Its becoming more acceptable in society i think and when people understand the process they dont have so much of a issue with it. Not everybody though so im just carefull who i tell about my woe

That's a great idea Diana, I might try that myself :).

Definitely becoming more acceptable compared to how it was viewed when I first started in 2002. Huge change since then thanks to all the research that has and is being done and I'm sure a lot is also due to all the anecdotal experiences that doctors would be seeing with their patients..
