Hi just have a question about calorie intake. I'm basically doing low carb my own way by cutting out all sugar, starches etc and in the beginning i was controlling my fat intake to but then i read it is more effective to eat more fat on low carb diets or the body will go into starvation mode.
This has worked so far as I have lost 5kg in 2 weeks but I'm just wondering how accurate that info is.
Thanks :)

Welcome Sarah :)
Calories will always matter, but the beauty of low carb is that, it has an appetite suppressing effect. Because of this, you tend to reach a calorie deficit anyway, at least for a while. How well really depends on how much you have to lose, the less you need to lose, the more calories matter. If your weight loss stalls and you know it is not hormonal or digestion issues, look at your calories. Remember, you can't just replace all those carbohydrate calories with protein, you need fat as well. Exercise will also help reach a deficit and if you use resistance it will encourage preservation of muscle and even some beginner gains to help keep your metabolism going.
