    dietclub vs carb counter book

i am on a mission to get my act together and work out the PFC and cal counts for all my lc recipes. at home i can never be bothered logging onto dietclup.com so i use my Family Circle book 'the fat, fibre & carb counter' it doesn't have protein counts but i figure i can look it up when i am at work on diteclub.
BUT: today i looked up 300g of beef and the counts for fat and Kilojoules were different.

    Family Circle:
    F 51.6g
    Kj 3476
    Dietclub:
    F 49.5
    Kj 2874

what do i choose? the kj difference is enough that i might end up being inadvertantly over my kj's for the day. or should i not worry?
    cheers, sam

By the time you got to a serving size the differences wouldn't be that great. I imagine the difference is the different cuts of meat. I wouldn't worry too much as long as you are consistent which figures you use.

Personally I use dietclub and the back of packaging but no list is perfect.

thanks sandyj, i guess that is the problem, there is no perfect solution! i'll do as you suggest, just stick to dietclub and package labels.

I think the pocket book is good for when you are away from your PC or say if you only have access to a PC at work then it's good to have it on hand when at home

I use labels first and dietclub second. Don't worry about being precise just do the best you can with what you have.

Good luck with the counting Sam!

thanks sherrie. i have been collecting lc recipes and figure it will help if i actually work out the counts and write them up. that way i won't be 'guessing' and i can also double check things don't ave hidden ingredients. i don't want to get too precise as you say sherrie, otherwise i will end up procrastinating!
    cheers, sam
