Do the carb counts in the DietClub.com.au website have the fibre subtracted to give the net carb count?
A post on another forum got me investigating this issue and now I’m confused. You’re supposed to be able to calculate for sure whether or not fibre has been subtracted by doing the following sums (this example is theirs): -
Assuming fat gives 9 calories per gram and protein and carbs each give 4 calories per gram -
if the total calorie count is 38, with
fat 2g (18 cals)
protein 3g (12 cals)
total carbs 2g (8 cals)
fibre 1g
the fibre has not been subtracted otherwise the total calories would be 34.
Does the fibre count as 4 calories because it’s a carbohydrate? Can anyone shed any light on this issue because when I apply the above formula it shows that fibre hasn’t been subtracted in the DietClub carb counts. What am I doing wrong?
