    Re: Australian Farmers Markets

I went to the new growers market at the Mt Claremont Primary School yesterday. I just went to have a look at what was available there and was impressed with how popular it was. Not sure about the prices of produce but some of the queues were really long. There were 2 stalls selling ‘lamb in a box’ and one selling ‘pork, sheep and cow in a box’. The latter - Spencers Brook Farm, sell preservative free bacon for those that are interested. The two lamb stalls were selling their boxed product for about $9.50/kg.

    Re: Australian Farmers Markets

Went to the Barossa Farmers Market yesterday morning, this is by far the best one I have been too as it appears to be a real farmers market and not some overpriced yuppie market (no offense to yuppies!). This place has local seasonal fruit and veggies as well as fresh seafood and meat, there was lamb, beef, free range pork and free range but grain fed chickens. There were a few stalls with dried fruits, local olive oil, hand made Belgium dark chocolates (yes I tried them and they were yum!) and some bakery stuff but it was all local. We bought this yummy curry paste, the lady had some mixed up with philly as a dip for people to try, Maya was hoing down on it like you wouldn't believe hehe.

One thing however is you need to be there early especially if you want meat, we didn't get there early enough so next time we will be up at the crack of dawn!
