Thumbs up Hi - newbe here

Hi everyone, this looks like a great site. I'm 45, have 4 kids and have 20kg to lose. I've had a go at low carb diets before but found them hard to stick to, I'm keen to try again though! My brother referred me to the bodytrim site and I found you from there. I think I'm going to give bodytrim a go, maybe just for the free trial time. Like many of you I've tried lots of times to lose the weight but it's so stubborn!! I'm pretty fit (my youngest is only 5 and my pregnancy with her contributed about 10 of the 20kgs I've got to lose - having babies in your 40's does nothing for your metabolism!) thanks to working a lot and playing a lot with the kids. In some ways I feel like I'll gie it one more big go and see if I can be the woman I once was, anyway I look forward to joining you all!

    Welcome Taja

What it is about low carb diets that you find hard to stick to?

    Hiya Taja

A big welcome from me too! I'm following bodytrim myself and I would suggest to save you money do the trial free period then send it back.. the forum over there on the site has plans to have fees slugged on it, so that was my main reason for keeping my copy but this site is excellent, there are quite a few of us doing BT and help each other along the way

All the best and its great to see you!

    Hi ya taja,
    Welcome
Just wanted to mention that I too had tried LC in the past and got bored with it and it was only when I found this site and support that I realized their was so much more I could eat than I had allowed myself in the past.
I have been LC now for 4 months and am convinced that I will stick with it for life.
    Good luck on your journey.

    Hi and welcome Taja

I am on the BT diet too and I sent it back, I read the book watched the DVD and felt sure I could work out from that what I need to do. Besides hubby said I couln't keep it lol (he gets sick of me trying everything)

He is very pleased with me now though, I am losing weight and it didn't cost anything!

You will get great support from this site, there are many who are on BT and will help you out.

Oh by the way i am not encouraging you to send it back, you might find keeping the DVD's and book helpful, at least you have a reference to go back to.

I am not sure if I stick to it all legally, but that's cause I don't have anything to fall back on to tell me I am doing it wrong. But it's all good I am losing weight and very happy about that!

    This time it will happen

Thanks for the lovely welcome everyone - I feel like support like this might be just what I need!
To answer your question Sherrie, I think the hardest thing is the kids! Having all the carbs around that they want, they love pasta dinners and rice, and of course sandwiches. Often when I come home from work I go looking in the fridge for "something" which usually involves bread or a biscuit. I realise it's not easy, you've got to have the willpower to re-educate yourself.
How do you all go with constipation (I know, we haven't known each other long for these kind of questions - but I have to ask!)? That is something I've noticed in the past when I've tried LC.

Mine hasn't changed, I do take a calcium and magnesium supp before bed and sometimes I take some cod liver oil which may be helping.

Yes it's very important to make time for yourself to prepare snack foods and it doesn't have to be boring. You'll pick up lots of tips and recipes from this site. The problem will be keeping the kids out of them

Perhaps the last time you tried LC you wern't getting enough fats fibre & low carb veges, helps to keep it all working.
Also the water is very important in this regard.
