    Thanks Lynda

I did try light an easy but hated the food especially the evening meals, I got so sick of eating carrots, peas and corn with every meal. I choose JC because you have fresh vegies and fruit plus I need the accountability. The cost is high, but it does keep me motivated to stick to it. I also have two little kids and having it all done for me is a bonus. (I have 30+ kgs to lose so I need all the motivation and variety I can get). JC also have dining out days so I can choose my own food for days I have to eat out.

I am breastfeeding so JC are also allowing me to add extra kj which I do with extra protein. I will give it ago and see how things are.

    Re: Bodytrim V Atkins?

    Hello,

just thought I'd pop in with my 2 cents worth... ... I have done JC, WW, South Beach, Atkins, Body Trim (I'm a dieting whore it seems) I've been on BT for about 14 weeks now - and I really dislike the marketing side of it - hate the emails, the up-selling, the spin that goes with it - but it is working for me... I'm an ex chef, I love to go out to eat once a week and my 'free day' allows me to do this - I can still try all the hot new restaurants and feel ok within myself. I can also still have my skinny latte in the morning each day - it's these two things that make the program a lifestyle change for me that I can stick to. It's horses for courses. I've adapted BT a bit for myself - including 2 protein only days per week - I've almost lost 10kgs now with what feels like minimal effort.

I just think we all need to be a bit sensitive to each other in this forum. We're all doing 'non-traditional' diets and cop flak from a lot of angles from friends and families and co-workers - we should all support each other here. I wish everyone the very best - after all we are all here for the same reason.

I have a book called Low Carb Made easy by an Australian Dr. The system basically used intervals between card and protein meals, if you have a protein meal you can't have carbs for (I think) 5 hours. This works on minimising your insulin response. It's been mentioned here before http://www.apinchofhealth.com/forum/...ead.php?t=4896

They did have a website but it seems to have disappeared.

It is a good system and allows for people to have carb meals/days if they want.

For me, Atkins is all that works. I have come back to it after a break and lost 3.5 kgs in 4 days, that'll do me!

    Re: Bodytrim V Atkins?

Hi guys - I have been a member for a while but not contributed. Have tried a bit of Atkins, a bit of BT and the Paleo Diet. They all have their merits. Just curious about whether anyone has a problem with loose sagging skin? What does one do? Apart from plastic surgery of course lol. By the way - just went back onto a low carb plan which combines several elements of the LC diets and after just 8 days have lost 4 ks (pretty good I think). I want to lose a lot of weight by January 1 for a very very special occasion and have thought about trying to fast a couple of times a week, what does everyone think? I don't want to get too unhealthy or anything.

    Hey Kaznik

You might be interested in this thread from last month: Loose skin

4kgs is a great loss, I am not the keenest on fasting personally particularly when needing to lose weight as I wonder if it might be counter productive but some think its fine when done properly. I think we have an old intermittent fasting thread around here somewhere. Here's some I just found:

    Re: Bodytrim V Atkins?

I think you should choose a programme that suits what you like to eat. So for example, if you like more carb doing 20g Atkins won't suit. Atkins may have got you to goal faster but it may not if it causes you to binge on foods that you are missing. Atkins is good at getting rid of cravings but you may go to a social event and eat something like a cake or huge bowl of fruit salad. You may say that tomorrow you will be back to diet but tomorrow comes and you're not back on plan.

I like fasting. You could try to fast once per week first. Stop eating at 2pm and start eating the next day at 2pm. This is a 24 hr fast. Or start eating earlier say at 9am and you've accomplished a 19hr fast.
Make sure you do strength/weight training as this ensures your muscle mass is not depleted. If you fast and don't strenght train - more than likely your muscle will be accessed for energy which you don't want. You want your fat stores to be depleted.
When you come out of the fast just eat as you normally would.

Thanks for the replies guys (I use that in a general sense - I know you aren't men lol). I appreciate you taking the time and trouble to answer me. I am finding it a little hard to go without my dessert at night, so will look up some of the recipes and try to find something suitable (I have trouble with too much fat - cannot digest it easily - it makes me nauseous).

Thanks Sherrie - diet jelly is a good option and I do use it. I am wondering with the Cheese Cake Muffins - could i use low fat cream cheese or does that affect the carb count too much? i don't always need to go low fat - just most of the time (no gall bladder)

Well said, and its this reason that BT appeals to me, it seems to be the most adaptable to my current life style.

I haven't tried bodytrim but I know you can have an off day and that would be the undoing of me! It has to be all or nothing as I cant be trusted to have a taste of anything naughty, honestly im like a shark getting a taste for blood - a frenzy is bound to follow!
Anyhoo, not having any cravings yet on the Atkins which was unexpected

    Re: Bodytrim V Atkins?

I have been with Bt since June of last year. I lost allot of weight but then started to have problems with the free day. I found my free days would last two or three days and then I would have extra protein only days to try and counteract it and it was making me sick in the end. So now I have started on Bodysculpt and am on day six of my first week of it. Doing ok except for stuffing up my knee from doing too much exercise and I have been fealing quite light headed since yesterday. I was checking out the Atkins site for the first time just to get some ideas for recipes and found myself reading up a little bit on the diet and I have to say I think it looks good and it looks like it has more variety after you get through phase one and into phase two than what I have now. I also noticed on the site that there is a new book coming out due to be released on 20 March called "The New Atkins for a New You". I want to order this and check it out as soon as it comes out. Does anyone have any advice on any other reading material I should get, books or sites ? I pritty well much know nothing about Atkins so its all new to me.

    Re: Bodytrim V Atkins?

having just read this whole thread all i have to say is horses for courses! we are often told that any diet will work as long as we stick to it.... there in the diet must be right for you and if that mean low cal do low cal if its atkins or bt who cares! just find something that work and stick to it... i must say maybe im in a different position than most... been skinny most my life just put on loads of weight with baby number 2 and found it hard to shift ever since.... always fall off the wagon but by having a cheat day but always go back to it rather than give up all together! also u mention low cal but obviously someones weight and goal weight also dictate how many cals they should consume... my goal is 45kgs alot lower than most would consider but that is still heavier than i was pre kids... i cannot consume high calories if i want to lose weight... im just too small...i am only 54kg now after having been 69 post baby for a long time.... so i dont care what diet someone chooses... if it works for them great! i
