Smile What will you do today to take good care of yourself and your plan?

The days are shorter now where I live, and I find I need to make deliberate effort to be outside when it's sunny.

Also, am improving the balance of exercise, exertion, rest, and pacing, throughout the day, and the week.

What's on your list, today, of taking better care of yourself?

Re: What will you do today to take good care of yourself and your plan?

Hiya we have the opposite in Perth...9 months of long very hot days...some ppl love it...it kills me...so really its sort of the same...

I can't think when it's hot...I don't want to cook that's for sure...the only way I get by is to cook when it's dark (sometimes its still 30 degrees C at night) and prepare ahead...

I guess yesterday I had the oven on so I made a few different things in a row...lol stuck my head on overdrive and just kept going...

I also made a promise to myself to never again drive to the local shops...it's only a 1 kilometre round walk...and nothing I can't do with a backpack and the dog...

6am...got to be at work in 30minutes...but today I remembered to have a good breakfast!

Deena, long days of heat is hard. I'm glad you're taking good care of yourself.

This last summer, I decided not to use the oven at all. Kept the house cooler.

I walked in nice light today. Am planning to be outside a bit more tomorrow.

I also decided to take a break from the almond butter. Will see what effects that brings.

Sending everyone good thoughts for today.

Re: What will you do today to take good care of yourself and your plan?

I will be kind to myself and not dwell on how much I have to lose but how loose my clothes are and how far I have come

I will take onboard my DH's comments about how good my arms are looking or that I'm getting smaller in around my middle.

Every six months I do something to myself - whether it is getting really sick or hurting myself. Last week I torn my calf muscle - it is a Grade 1 tear meaning that it will take 2-5 weeks to heal with physiotherapy. I will look after my injury and not make it worse and do my stretches.

MB, I hope you are recovering well. Thanks for the lovely reminder about remembering the progress. I am thankful for my progress and my current WOE.

Today, I will focus on choosing serenity first, and being gracious, in the midst of a very busy day.

I will make sure I eat nourishing food and not miss my meal times, and plan to pace myself wisely.

Re: What will you do today to take good care of yourself and your plan?

Im not in the best headspace right now and working far more than Id like so today I made a gazillion rissoles to freeze for work lunches...easily just pop them in the fridge at night and they are right to go in the morning...I know if I dont do this prep on the weekend I'll be unprepared for the week ahead...

I keep trying to tell myself even when Im not in a good headspace I dont want to blow out my eating...my main line to myself is to not eat any empty calories...

Today's "good care" resolve is to choose the food carefully, and to give myself comforting things in other areas: rest, movement, prayer, study, chores, mindfulness while working, etc., rather than using food as the go-to tool for comfort.

Sending you all best wishes for much beauty in this path of being kind to ourselves.

Deena, am sending you good thoughts.

Today's resolve for taking good care of myself includes tending more to peace of mind and enjoying beauty, while doing chores, meeting responsibilities well, etc.

This time of year seems to "make" folks a bit on edge, rather than giving serenity, so am working on being measured and especially careful with doing and thinking what is nourishing to my own serenity.

Am doing a modified fat fast today and enjoying it very much.

Sending everyone best wishes for much beauty throughout the day.

Re: What will you do today to take good care of yourself and your plan?

    Today:

Food plan: consistent protein and carb amounts from day to day, as per Dr. Richard Bernstein. Works well. Cutting down on the HWC a bit.

Exercise: Callanetics, stretches, rebounding, perhaps a walk

    Water: 3 - 4 quarts

Rest/Quiet/Prayer time: regular, mindful times of nourishing thought and rest

    Supplements.

Being attentive to tending the plan and enjoying taking good care of myself, remembering how far I've come this year, rather than focussing on what I haven't done.

Sending best wishes to all for a day of lovely victories.

Re: What will you do today to take good care of yourself and your plan?

Today's plan includes keeping the carbs constant. Dr. Bernstein is a genius.

Am doing more warm-up stretches before the exertion exercises and finding it helps very nicely.

I wish you all a very lovely day.

Something very simple today - drinking at least 8 glasses of water and food shopping for my start next week.

Re: What will you do today to take good care of yourself and your plan?

We have some lovely prawns in the freezer, I'll cook them on cast iron plates on the BBQ with butter and fennel seed and herbs for me, and garlic butter for Warwick.

And we are off to our local fish shop today for some nice fish, and then stock up on some fresh veges for the next few days. Our ham is bearing up well and we have some smoked salmon in the fridge too. And I want to get some more beef fat to render for tallow, I did the fat off the last roast I got and it cooks things so nicely I'll do a big batch.

My occasional indulgences over the holidays have been a small serve of seaweed rice crackers with pate or smoked salmon (I have 7 crackers) or a small baked blue potato in the skin - they are actually dark purple skinned potatoes with yellow flesh but the name is blue something or other. Oh, and my 3oz glass of white wine twice a week - Yes, I will be having one tonight.

Mmmm, Odille, what scrumptious things you have to eat.

In thinking about taking better care of myself, I find that the subject of balance stays with me. A bit of this, a bit more of that, a bit less of something else.

Today's resolve, to pay kindly attention to what I need for balance.

Sending you all best wishes for a lovely day.
