    Re: Bloody dieticians

Sometimes I think that these "professionals" are nothing more than shills for the pharmaceuticals and the big brand names.

I went to a dietitian ages ago and got told the same thing...problem is, she offered no effective way for me to control my sugar cravings or anything like that.

She said to me I should eat everything in "moderation". Well if I could eat in moderation, I would not be here, now would I?

The whole session left me really disappointed in the end, I got nothing out of it.
    Starting over!

They say that so they can avoid any personal/professional responsibility of a particular eating regimine whether it's to you or to manufacturers or peers. It is just easier to "sit on the fence"

    Re: Bloody dieticians

i was tempted to make an appointment with a dietician but your experience convinced me not to bother

so here i am at a total loss how to have a balanced diet when i have cut out just about everything from the food pyramid

i seem to be allergic to all grains legumes nuts fruit lactose and glucose

what i have been eating is boiled chicken with mushrooms and drinking salvital. I would like to expand on that because it is very limited and i believe in time I will be deficient in nutrients but i am so allergic to so many foods I just dont know where to start.
The good news is that while I stick to the chicken and mushrooms i dont have my coughing/breathing/choking fits yay!!!!!

but from your experience i dont think that a dietician could help me

anyone got suggestions? seems the only way we can help each other is to discuss it on a forum like this and share information because the experts are too stuck in their text book information and they are unable to help real people with real problems

thank you so much for the information in this thread

Initforlove, I think you would probably get some half decent advice, you have some pretty big food allergies and alot of what your allergic to is hidden in food. With luck you can get some advice on foods to avoid or those you can eat without issue.
It wont hurt to go to at least one appointment, maybe see if your Dr can set you up with a Care Plan, which will give you 5 appointments for no cost or low cost.
You dont have to take their advise but you just never know they could help. xx

    Initforlove5 ... I suggest you read here: http://fedup.com.au/

It may be that you're amine and/or salicylate intolerant.

But, whatever you are, definitely at least see a health professional once before you give up. They're not all bad!

I will keep it in mind

I just really dread having to explain that i am allergic to just about everything when they are so set in their ways lol

oh i forgot i am allergic to eggs too

at least I assume that it can be called allergy when i have a bad reaction to it even though the bad reaction is not the textbook classic allergic reaction

From the RPA, they are very experienced with that type of diet which the Failsafe diet is based on.

What do you eat for fat? I have done failsafe and the best fat source if you can only eat chicken is clarified butter but you need to do it yourself, the ones you buy in the supermaket are full of crap. Don't omit fat because you will need it for many things but on your topic of nutrient deficiencies, you will need fat to help absorb what nutrients you do manage to get.

    Re: Bloody dieticians

initforlove5, I have been following the Primal Blueprint which advocates all natural foods and organic (farm gate preferred) where possible. I have eliminate all grains (except for a little rice - my choice) and sugars except honey occasionally. I have never felt better. All my IB symptoms vanished, I never have digestion or bowel problems any more, & best of all my headaches disappeared and I have not had a painkiller for 4 or 5 months

I eat all meats (beef/chicken/lamb/pork/fish) and most vegetables, berries & melons, nuts & seeds, natural fats and oils (extra virgin olive oil, butter, ghee, nut oils (almond, macadamia, avocado etc), and some dairy (cram, hard cheddar, a little goat or sheep feta, a little natural yoghurt occasionally).

Occasionally I have eggs, & I like ham & bacon & smoke salmon, but excessive amounts are not Primal so I try to restrict these.

i can sometimes heat my mushrooms up in a little olive oil and of course the chicken drumsticks have skin on them and that is fatty

i might heat up a pork chop later today with some mushrooms - they are fatty too even if you discard as much visible fat as you can

I can eat broccoli and celery too so may add some of that to the mushrooms
