Jess can you point to the study?
I haven't updated this for a few years (slack I know!) but I also know, there's been even more supportive research since: low carb research

That wasn't the study either but that article doesn't seem to be praising that study either. It gives me the impression it was a very poor study.

Re: low carb and heart disease
Just thought I would add my 2 cents to this one . . . I have Calcium lumps in my artiries and are currently seeing both a specialist and working with a naturpath for other issues. Both have stated that weight will put a LOT of pressure on your heart as it has to work harded to get the blood around the body. I too had heard that LC caused such a problem with hearts etc so asked about it when they recommended going LC to loose weight. It was explained to me NOT to go VLC and it is more about watching the amount of Bad fats that you consume, as good fats are required for the body. Bad fats however are not. The body requires certain things to survive correctly.
When I get to Maintance it is recommended that I try and stick to the Daily recomended amounts of things for the first 2-3 weeks, and if I find I am gaining weight to adjust my amounts till I find the balance that My personal body needs.
