    • lemon or orange cordial recipe using xylitol

      Hi there,

Here's a good alternative to diet lemonade and great if you have a lemon tree. Found it on Australian site that sells Perfect Sweet xylitol (sweetlife.com.au).

I made a quarter batch of the lemon cordial recipe (ie just used one lemon and divided other ingredients by four) to test it out. You may want to adjust the sweetness by adding more xylitol or other sweetener of your choice.

Perfect Sweet™ Orange Cordial and Lemon Cordial

      Ingredients: (Orange)

      3 oranges
      4-5 tablespoons of Perfect Sweet™
      600ml boiling water
      1 teaspoon citric acid

      Ingredients: (Lemon)

      4 lemons or 5 limes
      8-9 tablespoons of Perfect Sweet™
      600ml boiling water
      1 teaspoon citric acid

      Method:

Remove the zest from the fruit and place in a bowl.
Juice the fruit and add the juice to the zest in the bowl.
In a separate bowl dissolve the Perfect Sweet™ in the boiling water.
Combine the contents of the two bowls, cover and leave to stand for 24 hours.
Dissolve the citric acid in a little boiling water and add to the other ingredients.
Strain the mixture and put the liquid into clean screw-top bottles.
Keeps in the fridge for two weeks. Use in the same way as commericial cordial.

      Please Note:
Perfect Sweet™ quantities can be adjusted according to taste.
      Cheers,
