I waited and waited to receive my copy of the art and science of low carb living and I'm finding it very technical. Can someone tell me if Atkins is easier to understand and follow? If so which book do I buy?
So disappointed

Hi Nakkas - Welcome - if you read up on the information here there is no need to buy a book - Low Carb Diets: Everything you need to know to get you started you may have already read this
-
Yes I quite like the Atkins book, I used to always recommend the 2002 DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution) as the ones since Dr Atkins died were very frankenfood/product focused then came one called New Atkins, New You which I quite liked, there's a photo of what it looks like here: Atkins Diet - An Introduction to Low Carb
We also have our induction page which you can use to do induction whilst waiting: Atkins Induction: Phase 1
There's also this page that I put together recently: Low Carb Diets: Everything you need to know to get you started
That should be enough to get started, oh there's also an older recipe book if you can find it: the illustrated Atkins New Diet Cookbook: 'Must Have' Low Carb Recipe Books it has recipes, menus, how to do the diet etcLow Carb in a Nutshell ~ Carb Counts ~ Research ~ Measurements/Conversions ~ Glossary
Let me know if you think of anything else handy from the site to put here. -

Hi Nakkas,
A book I found easy to follow is 'Low carb made easy' by John Ratcliff. It's a good stating point. Readily available on the net, new, or second hand for a good price. There are some yummy recipes in the book too.
I like it because it explaines the effects of sugar (carbs) on people with or without diabetes. He also mentions Syndrome X which is my demon. The science written in his words is very simple to comprehend.
Having said all that, this site is a wealth of information!!! -
I found the original Atkins book very easy to read and follow.
