Hi all. New to this forum. I am a Type 2 insulin dependent diabetic. As part of my lifestyle changes I have adopted a low carb diet to better control my blood sugar levels. I have also found that the food tastes so much better!

Hi my name is Barbra I am a type 1 Diabetic & my partner of 37 years is a Type 2 Diabetic
I always thought we ate pretty healthily as I am the only cook in our household with NO children but 2 Very Spoiled Toy Poodles We do love junk food which I do try hard to steer clear of But with the occasional mishap I thought our eating habits were OK Example last night for dinner I roasted a butterflied chicken (with all vegetables being steamed ) Vegetables we had were PUMPKIN (cubed) CARROT (strips) 2 POTATOES (cut into cubes) CAULIFLOWER & BROCCOLI cut into florets All still with a bit of a crunch except the POTATOES I steam our vegetables together BUT take out the ones that are cooked 1st
Our Poodles have Scotch Fillet Steak, Chicken cooked as soup with Carrot Celery Sweet Potato then the chicken is de-boned They also eat Lambs Fry Is that BAD EATING??
Prior to my Gall Bladder being removed & 2L.tumor in lower abdomen my BSL was always 6 -I was so proud as Mark became a Type 2 diabetic several years before me I did indulge HEAVILY on 1.25 L Coca Cola I now drink water or Mineral water & Sugar Free cola (Black Coke) After watching a pre taped show from May 8th 2016 "SUNDAY" about 3 people needing to change their diets I thought I don't eat the type of crap they eat Hell I would be DEAD But it was a BIG worry for me & my partner as I am now 67 years old & Mark is 61
The post was edited 2 times, last by KrystynaInSydney: I forgot to mention that I DO NOT COOK WITH SALT as I believe there is enough salt naturally in the food we eat The only processed food in our main meal is Frozen Peas & Corn I was going to make Spaghetti Carbonnara tonight NOW I am too scared to eat anything ().
I guess your blood sugars will let you know how your diet is. Your dinner isn't too bad, I realise you may have difficulties with fat not having a gall bladder but you will need some to absorb some nutrients.
Potatoes are classed as high in carbohydrates, pumpkin comes next then carrots. The brassica is great. You might find this link handy: Carb Counts for Vegetables
