My fridge still has 6 blocks which I am pleased about - I look at the blocks & don't open them because I will eat it - only in daily small portions - I will see how long this lasts - they have been there for ages .

Thank you for the heads up - picked up some 90% dark (hadn't seen that one before -usually 85%) so VERY happy. 2.5g per 25g serve

I haven't run out from last time but will make sure to get more as I hate running out in between specials! Sometimes there's no special for months!Low Carb in a Nutshell ~ Carb Counts ~ Research ~ Measurements/Conversions ~ Glossary

Is that a block of 85% cocoa chocolate?

Picked up 2 more bars of Lindt 90% to add to the other 6 bars I have not touched - I couldn't resist the bargain
-
I went to Woollies this morning (closest shop to work) and bought Lindt 90% $6 for 2 bars... I haven't tasted it yet... might be good since I've left my boiled eggs at home...might make a trip home to get them though!

Thanks Sherrie, I will have to remember to duck down to Coles at lunch time.
I'm trying not to eat even the dark chocolate but it will be good to have some in the desk just in case of any cravings - they are a brilliant craving killer.
I love the Lindt 90%. The 85% tastes too "fruity" for me. The 90% is a bit chalky if you chew it but it tastes great if you just let it melt gradually in your mouth. -
I'm the opposite I find the 90% fruity and why I don't like it with my coffee, it just doesn't go. I guess that goes to show how much our tastes can differ from person to person.Low Carb in a Nutshell ~ Carb Counts ~ Research ~ Measurements/Conversions ~ Glossary

Thanks for the tips on how to eat chocolate Big Bill
I'm the same, I'm hoping I won't actually eat it on a regular basis, but there 'just in case'!
Because of the carb and sugar count on the 90% I'm going to force myself to like it! -
Jmama, there are milk chocolates with almost zero carbs in the health food section - they don't taste real good in my opinion, but probably worth a try if you can't get used to the 85% or 90%.
Sherrie, I find the 90% has an intense chocolate flavour. Very addictive, I could sit at my desk all day letting one piece after another melt in my mouth. Must resist though and keep it for emergency cravings. I can't imagine having it with coffee though. -
Woolies have Lindt on special for $2!
Coles also has Mayvers super spread for half price. I haven't tried that one but I will at that price:

Ok Garry bought home that spread last night and its not low carb! That label above gives the impression that the main ingredient is almonds but there's no way! The one I have here is slightly different, they've changed the word almonds to 4 nuts and when you look at the ingredients the first ingredient is cashews! The carb count is 20g per 100gLow Carb in a Nutshell ~ Carb Counts ~ Research ~ Measurements/Conversions ~ Glossary

I found that a few months ago too Sherrie - sooo annoying not to mention misleading when it sounds really good (until read the fine print) - I ended up slowly using mine when I made nut bars instead of peanut butter - cant say it was as nice though.
We are all a little bit broken - but that's ok. -
Melrose do it right they pretty much have 1/3 each of cashew, almond and brazil and because the brazil is so low in carbs it brings the paste down to less then peanut butter despite the really high carb cashews!Low Carb in a Nutshell ~ Carb Counts ~ Research ~ Measurements/Conversions ~ Glossary

oooo - I haven't tried Melrose - I was so disappointed and annoyed with mayvers that I stopped trying others. I will try to remember to keep an eye open for it when Im shopping.

I think Macro at woolies also do one exactly the same as the melrose one, just look in the health food section.Low Carb in a Nutshell ~ Carb Counts ~ Research ~ Measurements/Conversions ~ Glossary

Some of the "organic" nut butters and spreads in the health food section are above 50% carbs (mostly sugar). I am a fastidious reader of nutrition labels before I buy anything these days. The idea that something can be 50% sugar and still healthy is, unfortunately, still around.
I also notice a direct relationship between how difficult it is to find where something was made and the likelihood that it was made in Mainland China. "Made in Germany" will be easy to find. "Made in China" will be in lettering that is difficult to read and on the most obscure part of the packaging.
(I stocked up on $2 Lindt yesterday). -
Products from countries like Italy or New Zealand are often from China and just packaged there but they don't have to declare it.Low Carb in a Nutshell ~ Carb Counts ~ Research ~ Measurements/Conversions ~ Glossary
