The only deficiency my endo said showed up on my bloods was Vit D. I read the new stuff coming out and started taking 5000IUs per day in capsule form. My skin doctor also recommended I get my share of D via sun exposure on normally unexposed skin for 5 mins a day in summer and 10 in winter as I have had a melanoma removed and melanoma and D deficiency are also linked.
I am not good about getting out in the sun so I opted for supplements.

The endo said I should not bother with the capsules as they were inefficient and to ask at the chemist for drops. They had them behind the counter labeled 'Practitioner Only' by BioCeuticals I take, at his suggestion, 10 drops per day each drop is equivilant to D3 - 333.3IU. Chemist said it was about 4000IU and I could drop them on the back of my hand and lick them off or put them in a drink. I lick!

Hoping this will balance my D3 deficiency and improve my HDL cholesterol levels and combined levels by my next test!

The bottle is a 50 ml container, it is referred to as an emulsion (white liquid with own dropper neck). Says that it contains sodiom benzoate as a preservative, made in Australia. I have been using this bottle since early May and it still feels plenty full. It is not a see through bottle so I can't exactly tell and from memory I think it cost between $30-$40 but it is going to last for ages.

Hi Sherrie, I took advantage of your referral number and got my $5 discount (so maybe you'll get one also on your next order). Thanks very much. iHerb has some really good price deals, I stumbled onto this forum whilst surfing for high potency vitamin D3 which seems to be unavailable in Australia. A friend of mine has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is on a regime of vitamin D, CoQ10, and Chia seeds amongst other things.

      Welcome Peterk! :)

That site is a great find isn't it, apparently there's freebies on there too but I never noticed them when I ordered!
Interesting, did her doctor put her on the regime? What about diet has she dropped the carbs? Apparently, very important for cancer as high insulin levels will feed it. I wish your friend all the best, my sons step mum just died from it a week ago, very sad.

      Good luck :)

I took the free offer of a 32 page Detox book. I suppose that if you order again you might be able to get something free as it should be on your account that you hadn't got one yet, never know, try it.
Yes, her specialist put her onto a special diet, needs to cut out all sweet stuff as well. I travelled to see her and she's as thin as a stick (but that's a good thing) and in good spirits and as lively as ever. It is sad about your friend.

Oh I also bought this to try: iherb.com/NuNaturals-NuStevia-…ct/4319?at=0&rcode=RER863 It is stevia that allegedly has the bitterness removed and is mixed in with some erythritol to make it easier to measure. You can but it in a 2.2kg bag but I figured I'd try it first as the extract I used to use would give me nausea. Oh I didn't buy any but there were a few different flavoured stevia drops that had no preservatives in them.

I was tempted to buy some R-ALA as well but I will buy that next time as I found an Australian source for cheap ALCAR so bought some of that too :o

OK this is wrong I could've sworn this had erythritol but after accidentally getting it again I noticed it has maltodextrin like splenda, lol this second time I meant to get a pure stevia extract, my fault for rushing I guess. This is the one that has erythritol. So I take back any praises for the stevia and erythritol as, as you can see I have yet to try it! :D

Ok I found out some info regarding DHL. Last time I ordered from iherb I posted somewhere about this stupid customs charge from DHL. This charge is apparently DHL specific, customs do not charge you this as this is what our tax dollars pay for. Anyway, I was reading about it on a bb forum and their advice is to avoid DHL and if you do ever have to use them and this happens then you should call them and try to get it waived, tell them you will no longer use DHL if they plan to charge you this each time customs want to check your parcel.

I was feeling a bit nervous about using iherb after that but feel very relieved now as I am almost out of erythritol and it's tooo expensive here, so I am going to try again, wish me luck :)

I was told their normal postal service is pretty fast, has anyone use them?

I was just working out my erythritol order and found a saving that I thought I'd share. I went to buy the 5lb bag I usually buy but because of the weight you had to use the more expensive postage which meant $28.99 for the erythritol and $24.27 for the postage which = $53.26

So I thought I would see how much it would cost if I ordered it in smaller packages so I could use the snail mail which is only $4 flat fee but each order has to be 3lb and under.

So to keep the order at 3lb or less I selected 2x 1lb which was a total of $14.34 and postage was $4 bringing it to $18.34, if I bought 3 separate parcels which would provide me an extra lb worth over $7 it would cost me $55,02.

      So to compare:

5lb + expensive postage with tracking = $53.26 (US Dollars)

      6lb + cheap postage = $55,02 (US Dollars)

So for an extra $1.76 I would gain one extra lb of erythritol and I could spread out my purchases rather then come up with the larger sum in one hit.

Plus with the cheap parcel you will still have half a pound left to buy any other supps like vitamin d etc without paying extra for postage.

      :)

Just adding my update from the erythritol thread:

      Sherrie wrote:

My order arrived today, I received both parcels and they had both been checked by customs, it took exactly two weeks and was free (or $4US if order is under $60) whereas DHL express takes 1.5 weeks a so called customs bill for $47 and postage of around $20US!

I have seen a few people mention an email from iherb this week to say that DHL have agreed to withhold the $47 customs fee from now on, this is really good news. Has anyone here received this email as I haven't?

I hope this is true , I started to set up an order last week but then cancelled as I was unsure of what the fees would be .

You can do regular mail as well and pay no fees and cheap postage ($4), I paid no postage and got a discount as well because my order was $60. You are limited by weight but what you can do it split them up into more then one order and if your order is over $60 then what you do is arrange the first one so that it is of $60 value that way for that order postage is free :) This way is good value for money if doing lots of small orders. But using regular mail you do take a risk of it getting lost.

DHL without the customs fee would be really good for bulky orders, I wanted to buy the nu naturals erythritol last time through regular mail but I couldn't because it was over 2 kg per packet which is too heavy so I had to buy smaller packets. The trick with the bigger postage is to buy somewhat in bulk so you get better value from the postage as lots of small orders with the higher postage would at up. I might email them to make sure it is true.

An interesting observation on Vit D. Husband, has impaired BG readings but not diabetic as I am. Persuaded him to take Vit D too though he tans easily and is outdoors lots. After he had been on 4,000ius a day for 12 months he asked for his annual blood tests to check his levels of Vit D and came in at just above the base line of the desired range. What, we wondered would he have been if he had not supplemented????? He has just turned 60 and it is known that persons over 55 seems to have issues with achieving the desired range.
Incidentally the drops cost about $24.
