      In Carb Detox and put on weight!!! Can you believe it! Really killed my motivation.... what to do... I was drinking 3litres of water, walking for 1 hour per day (6.6km) and sticking to the proper plan of 3 + 3..... What have I done wrong???

      As far as i know you havent done anything wrong, i personally wouldnt be looking at the scales during the detox, i find its best to step on the scales once a week.

      Just keep up the protein, water and walking and you will lose weight. You might find that you have put on, on the scales but after the week when your body is getting use to it you will drop it rapidly. Your weight can depend on alot of things so the scales arnt always the best to be looking at, considering you could go up and down daily its probably going to kill your motivation as you say. I know it does for me. You may want to measure yourself, as if you are working out alot you may be building muscle (esp if you never use to walk 6kms before starting the diet) then the scales might be slower to go down as you are gaining muscle, but would see results in your measurements. I think its too early to tell, so keep it up and stay off the scales till the first week is over and then have a look and go from there.

      Hi Harbec,

      Firstly, you haven't done anything wrong.......there could be all number of reasons. Here's some stuff from the BT website that may help you understand.

      "If you were someone that used to skip meals and eat very irregularly before commencing Bodytrim you many have to go through ‘metabolic rehab’. In this instance, your weight loss can be very slow in the beginning and can take a month for the weight loss to kick in (your metabolism can be very sluggish to begin with and it takes time for it to be corrected with this new way of eating)
      -Generally people who have had very carbohydrate rich and calorie laden diets lose more initially, so if you are someone who has generally had a fairly ok diet or have started to eat healthier or follow another weight loss program before you commence Bodytrim, you probably will find that you’re weight loss will not be as dramatic."

      Also, don't weigh yourself until the end of the first week.......you bounce around in weight all through the week.........it's only by looking occasionally that you get a truer picture of your journey......you're doing great, keep it up.

      Only a small loss for me again this week............however I'm hoping to use the momentum of the Bodytrim challenge between now and Christmas....I haven't started walking yet as I was having great success without it......now that the challenge is on I'm going to start...........hopefully that will be the push I need!

      Well done DDS as they say a loss is a loss - goodluck with the challenge!

      I am happy with my progress. I made my goal of 63kg's before our annual October trip to Noosa. YAY. :D Now I just have to make sure I don't pile it all back on while we are there. :o

      Hello again everyone.

      I know it's been an eternity since I have posted here but I felt that I needed to share this with you all. Drumroll please...............................

      I HAVE ACHIEVED MY GOAL WEIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      It's taken almost 8 months but I have finally broken through the 80kg barrier and am now a svelte 78.7kg. I can not be more happy than I am right now. I look at old pictures of myself and cringe at just how large I was. I have sworn NEVER to be that big again.

      The benefits of being this thin again (I haven't been this weight in about 23 years) is that I have a lot more stamina, I no longer snore and generally just feel a whole lot better about things in general. This last part is important as I have been struggling with depression issues for a few months (which is why I haven't been posting). I can now go on to the maintenance phase with confidence knowing that I have the tools and knowledge to drop the weight again should I ever slip (which I don't plan to).

      This community has been such a magnificent motivator and I am hoping that my success will help others in their quest to lose more weight.

      Long time no update,,, seems i have lost 9kgs since the last log in LOL...sorry kids! So, on 28th July was 79.5... am now 69.3 on the 27th Nov... have beat two goals of 75kg, and then 70 by my birthday (Nov 25th)

      I've been doing Atkins for years and really like it, but am thinking it might be time to shake things up a little, so I'm looking at the bodytrim diet. I can't afford to buy the program, and since I already know about low-carb eating, etc. Am not sure I really need all if it.

      One thing it looks like on here is that a lot of people put the pounds back on when they stop doing it? What does the maintainence phase look like, and how easy is it to follow?

      What I know about the diet is this:

      • Eat six times a day: three meals, three protein snacks. Drink 10 glasses of water a day, walk 30 min. a day.

      • The initial three days protein only: I am assuming that means protein and fat? eggs, bacon, hamburger, meat?
      • Somewhere I read to stay away from cheese in this phase - why is that? Can I still have my a.m. cup of coffee with half-half in it? (I drink no caffiene after that one cup)

      • Next three days allow one whole-grain type carb in the a.m. or lunch, but not evening. (My choice will be oatmeal or oat-bran) Are there any natural sweeteners that are acceptable (we use xylitol here, or saccharin, but saccharin in oatmeal is bitter). Other meals are meat and 'low carb veggies'.... any particular carb-counting restriction here? Is there a fat-gram restriction? Can we eat cheese (in moderation, of course)?

      • Day seven is two meals freebie (one reason I'm looking at this diet: my family is tired of not being able to enjoy things like pizza night), then one day proteing only, and back to the 'weight-loss phase' of protein and low-carb veggies.
      Anything else I need to know?

      I do not do BT but a couple of things of the top of my head for a female snacks 50g mains 100g (e.g. 100g piece of beef). BT also encourages low fat. Free day is 2 free meals so not the entire day just say lunch and dinner etc
      I think condiments are limited to anything below either 5 or 10g grams sugar per 100g/ml, can't remember now.

      Personally I think you will struggle on BT after being on Atkins and will not enjoy it. Mainly because BT restricts fat to a huge degree (which is not healthy when you're on low-carb) and they also restrict a lot of foods that you are allowed to have on Atkins. I actually started out on BT but now do a modified version incorporating high fat and eating some of the foods that are not technically allowed (nuts, cheese etc). So while I follow the BT principles of eating 6 meals per day, everything else I do is a lot more like Atkins. I started doing this once I learned more about low-carb and realised that BT wasn't healthy when followed as written. If you follow BT to the letter your calories will be at starvation level on a daily basis (especially on PO days but even on the normal weight loss days).

      If I was you I would just continue on doing Atkins but incorporate a free day (2 free meals) once per week followed by a day where you eat lower calories than normal to counteract the "high" day. Just my 2c.

      Actually I think Melly845 is right on the money there.

      While I'm doing Bodytrim myself ... I'm not doing it as written. I also incorporate nuts (in moderation they're a good protein snack, and are full of beneficial fats), a little more fat, some cheese, and whatnot. I also try (where possible) to restrict wheat in my diet, as I've read studies that say even if you're not gluten intolerant, wheat can aid in fat retention.

      I've done Atkins, and don't find it perfect either. Maybe a blend ... of Atkins, Bodytrim, and maybe even the Dukhan diet ... is the way to go.

      Hi there,

      I am a first timer on BT, I'm on day 6 and feeling pretty good. I did suffer those unpleasant headaches on day 3 or 4 that some of you mentioned experiencing, but that seems to have subsided now. I too am not following BT to the word. I strongly believe its beneficial to have vegies with 2 meals everyday, even if its just the ones of the 'free list'. I also have small amount of cheese (fetta, chedder, cream cheese). I feel it'll make it easier to stay on track, still having success with weight loss.apinchofhealth.com/forum/vbb/images/smilies/smile.gif
