Rephrased for modern humans: predators eat meals, prey grazes on snacks. This means you need to eat meals which will carry you through to your next meal, but that won’t make you tired or sleepy.

Interesting article. Makes me question the 2000mg of evening primrose oil, (omega 6), I take everyday.

Several studies have found that it’s not helpful to boost your omega-3 fats consumption without lowering high omega-6 fats intake.

To get more bang for your bucks, you need to lower your omega-6 to omega-3 essential fatty acids ratio of between 2:1 to 3:1.

One of the major problems with taking too much omega 6 fatty acids is that this excess intake suppresses the immune system of the human body which can make us vulnerable to a variety of different diseases and infections.

Too much can increase our triglyceride and plaque levels and can form blood clots in the arteries, which increases the blood pressure. This, in turn, can lead to strokes and heart attacks.

We need to watch our food list that is high in Omega 6. For e.g.

i shocked to see Chicken, Turkey, Mayo, Almonds, Walnuts and Peanut butter in the above-mentioned list.

Yeah omegas have been mentioned lots over the years. If you want to be strict about a ratio you have to calculate everything like you would calories but with fats if each individual type of fat is listed, that is not easy!

But you can avoid adding more then is necessary like avoiding supplements with it, avoiding cooking in omega 6 oils etc, supplementing omega 3 and eating fatty fish and no that does not mean canned tuna which is high in mercury and usually has omega 3s removed for fish oil supplements!

I can't take high dose fish oils, gives me nose bleeds etc

I take the Omega 6's for hormonal reasons. I think I will stop. I don't eat much fish, hence the reason for the krill oil.

I have gone back to cooking in butter, always used olive oil and the odd light spray of canola oil.

all very interesting stuff indeed.
