I have decided to setup an amazon account and add some of our recommended low carb books here which was actually suggested to me many years ago by some of our old regulars back in 2005. I have only just decided to do it now to help out with the costs of running this website. This page will be for low carb recipe books as good ones can be hard to find and I will add another page for low carb diet books that are good (I have a quite a few on my bookshelf!). So if I find a good one or read a lot of chatter on the forums about a good one, I will share it here.
The Illustrated Atkins New Diet CookbookHardback by Dr Robert C Atkins
I have had this book for 10 years now and I am guessing this is probably the last (or close) book that Dr Robert Atkins did before he passed. This is my favourite low carb recipe book.
Even though this is American and thus uses American nutritional information, it has a well rounded variety of low carb recipes with mouth watering pictures to inspire and encourage you to experiment. Apart from a few recipes that use soy flour in some recipes that would typically use wheat these recipes are very clean using regular fresh ingredients and he also gives metric measurements so there's no need to worry about having to convert measurements or temperatures. Being an Atkins book, these are genuinely low carb recipes, something that was a big problem with so called low carb recipe books that were available in Australia back then.
Another good thing about this book, is it starts by explaining the rules and different phases of the 2002 version of the Atkins diet (commonly known in low carb circles as DANDR) followed by weekly menu plans for each phase including lifetime maintenance which I think people would find really helpful.
What is even better (for me!) is after having a quick flick through again whilst writing this, I am reminded of his ice cream recipes that I plan to try soon!
Whilst this book is 10 years old, this recipe book is still available on Amazon so I highly recommend it as in my opinion, it's one of the best. Just click on the image below to be taken to it's page on Amazon.

Clean Living CookbookPaperback by Luke Hines and Scott Gooding
My partner picked this book up recently as he's following a Paleo type diet now and we cannot put it down.
Luke and Scott were contestants on last years season of My Kitchen Rules where they made some really yummy Paleo style dishes, but we never expected to buy their recipe book.
What attracted my partner to the book was that he found the recipes very appealing and simple to follow, they weren't too "fancy".
We have tried a few of their recipes now but there's still many more we wish to try. Even though this is a paleo book, most of the recipes are low carb and what isn't suitable now will be when you hit maintenance. Their sweet recipes often use fruit or sugar syrups for their sweetness but you could always swap them out for your choice of sweetener, I have a caramel syrup recipe in the forum, that may work with some of the recipes.
Their savoury recipes are just awesome and well suited to low carb, its worth buying just for their savoury recipes alone.
I really like this book because its sensible and not full of artificial food items, it is something I can feel comfortable feeding my children and eating as a lifestyle rather then just a diet.
Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet DictocratsPaperback by Sally Fallon
I have had this book for a long time. I found as I came closer to my goal weight, I thought more about the foods I eat, what's in them (e.g. pesticides, toxins and anti nutrients), how to prepare them and their effects on the body. This led to making more thought out choices rather then just concentrating on the carbohydrate count.
I still have not used this book as much as I should considering how long I have had it, I keep letting distractions get in my way and I need to stop that.
This isn't a "low carb" book per se but rather a book that focuses on real foods and healthy saturated fats, this isn't the book for a low carb beginner just coming off from a typical western diet in a hurry to lose weight but is a great asset as you go along your path to better health.
For those following Paleo I would consider this recipe book a must have!
This book is full of recipes that we really should be using all the time such as for fermenting vegetables, soaking and activating nuts etc so that anti nutrients are removed and we are able to absorb these nutrient dense foods better. There's also recipes for making your own nut milk which is very handy for low carb and dairy free lifestyles as well as recipes for preserving foods and tonics the way our ancestors did.
This is a big book with almost 700 pages of recipes and information on nutrition and ancestral diets, you're bound to find something that you like in there!

Low Carbing Among FriendsPaperback by Jennifer Eloff et al
Low Carbing Among Friends is a series of 5 volumes of low carb recipe books full of recipes shared by an assortment of low carbers. The main author is Jennifer Eloff whom has published many other low carb recipe books previously: Jennifer Eloff
She has so many good recipes provided by her and others, its hard to believe that there's another four of these books!
My only complaint is the lack of pictures (keep in mind I only have the 2nd volume) because I use recipe pictures to inspire me to try out a recipe but other then that I can only highly recommend giving these books a try.
Most of these recipes use regular ingredients that we use here and she uses metric measurements so there is no need to worry about having to convert the recipes. She also provides nutritional information for each recipe so there's no need to worry about that.
There's also some interesting articles included, for example the second volume has an article by Dr. Steve Parker on his weight loss tips that he uses with his patients which you may find useful.
